The family&#8217;s first stop was Tripoli, Libya. September 1, 1969, four months after moving to Tripoli, the country\u2019s internal politics blew up and a coup took place with Colonel Muammer al-Gaddafi replacing King Idris. Unaffected by the reign change, Larissa and her family lived in Tripoli for four years. <br> From Libya, Larissa\u2019s family moved to Lagos, Nigeria for one year and then moved to Aberdeen, Scotland where she finished junior high and high school. Moving back to the United States after graduation, she went to college and earned a degree in electronics.<br> Although she knew she had a better grasp of numbers than words, Larissa set out to try her hand at writing. She never felt she had a great understanding of the rules of grammar, and because of that, she knew her new venture would be a lot of work. Still, her overwhelming desire to write overshadowed her fears and she wrote.  <br> The birth of her first series, The Riley Cooper Series of Hope, was born. The trilogy, An Inheritance of Hope, The Restoration of Hope, and A Beacon of Hope, explores Larissa\u2019s fascination with world poverty, the mobility of our world, and the diseases that are ramped because of both leads one to believe her series is less fictions and more reality for us all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Larissa Self lived overseas from the age of seven to eighteen with her father, mother, brother and sister.
